Masala Bread Toast | Kukskitchen


A quick breakfast with left over bread with some veggies and some egg. Yes, that is it. I made this as a healthier option while making french toast for my 6 year old. To my surprise, he liked so much he didn't want any french toast. I was very pleased it worked. So guys, try it and see how your little ones like this masala toast. 

When I shared this picture on facebook page first my dear friend S wanted the recipe so badly. Well, partly beacause of my over enthusiastic descriptions. This recipe is for you dear.

A few things before we start:
  • I used brown bread. It tasted really good.
  • If using white bread, be careful about transfering the bread triangles from bowl to pan, as the soaked bread may tear off quickly. I would use a wide spatula.
  • Garnish with coriander and/or mint leaves if you like.
  • If you like it spicy add more green chilly or add a few pinches of red chilli powder.
  • Avoid green chillies if cooking for kids.

Masala Bread Toast

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

1- Bread Slices – 3
2- Eggs – 2
    Milk – 3 tbsp
3- Onions – 1/4, finely chopped
    Capsicum – 1/4, finely chopped
    Tomatoes – 1/4, finely chopped
    Green Chilli – 1, finely chopped
    Ginger garlic paste – 1tsp
4- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
    Pepper powder – 1 tsp
    Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
    Garam Masala – ¼ tsp
    Salt to taste
5- Oil/Butter – as needed


Method:


  • Mix all the ingredients other than bread.
  • Heat oil in a pan, and when oil warms up, dip triangles of bread in the egg mixture and lay on pan. Soup veggies on top and press them down. Keep the flame at low- medium. When one side is light brown, spray some oil on the top uncooked side, turn over and cook till the second side is light brown. 
  • Remove and drain oil on kitchen towel. 
  • Serve with ketchup and sliced tomatoes or cucumber.

  1. I should try this simple breakfast option. I usually go with the bread, omelet and a piece of cheese melted in between as a quick brunch option for kids.

      This is quick to make like your bread omelette. My little one liked it, which I was very surprised given he likes sweet things better than savoury. Having said that, bread omelette and cheese sounds yummmm
